Sketch N Scrap Challenge #25

Well now that we are all settled into the New Year, how about another sketch from Sketch N Scrap!
This sketch was designed by our new Sketch Artist Brenshevia. Check out her blog HERE.
I continued with the triplets birthday photos & the Simple Stories Happy Day collection for this sketch. I used my sewing machine to stitch around the two main papers for added element.
For the title piece, I used my Tim Holtz Chip Block die to cut out letters then covered them with glossy accents for a glossy puffy letter effect.
Now to the tutorial I teased you about in the last sketch. In that layout and this one, I wanted to have a solid paper. But the printed papers have a grungy look to them and a clean sheet of cardstock would be out of place. So I grabbed my Ink Blending Tool with a foam pad and ink pad.
First I held the paper up and rubbed the ink on the edges of the paper with the blending tool to give it a darker "fine line" edge.
Next I took my inked up blending tool and lightly rubbed it on the paper in circles to lightly feather in the ink. Darker around the edges and lighter towards the middle. And that's it! Now you have a grubbied up piece of cardstock!
Products I used in this layout:
Simple Stories • Happy Day • It's Your Day
Simple Stories • Happy Day • Fundamental Cardstock Stickers
Tim Holtz Alterations • Chip Block Die
Sizzix • Big Shot
Ranger • Ink Blending Tool

Baby Album

Here is the baby mini album I just finished for my best friend! I used my big shot pro to cut the album with the Album w/Tabs die.
I used papers from the My Minds Eye Lost & Found Market Street 6x6 Paper Pad.
For the photo spots I took white paper and edged it with walnut stain blend them in the MME papers.
In the photo above I used a kraft folder from Maya Road. And I also used my Papertrey Ink Die to cut the photo spot on the right side. I used the coordinating stamp set on the spot and American Crafts Zing Embossing Powder in Powder.
I used the card My Minds Eye buttons came on for a photo spot in the above photo.
For extra photo spots I made a cascade of paper at varying heights. I also added a little Platinum Stickes for extra sparkle.
I had a lot of fun making this album and I can't wait to see it full of pictures!

Sketch N Scrap Challenge #24

Happy New Year!
What better way to ring in the new year than with a new sketch challenge from Sketch N Scrap! Lisa put together this wonderful sketch and I was itching to get the triplets 3rd Birthday photos scraped so that's what I did.
Okay, who doesn't love Simple Stories papers? They are just beautiful. If I had one complaint, it would be that the other side of the paper is always just as beautiful and I hate not using it too! I guess that means I just have to buy 2 of each sheet right? Ha!
For this layout I chose 3 pictures of the kids playing with balloons. They had previously picked out some balloons at Hobby Lobby for their birthday party. When they woke up on their birthday and found them all blown up they were so excited! There's just something about balloons...
For this layout I used all Simple Stories papers except for the solid piece behind the photos. That is just a piece of cream card stock. I used the same cardstock to print the subtitle on with my computer. The background piece was grubbied up to match the Simple Stories papers. How did I do that? Come back for the Jan. 15th Sketch N Scrap layout reveal for a quick tutorial on that!

Products used in this layout:
Simple Stories • Happy Day •  2x12 Border & 4x12 Title Strip Elements
Simple Stories • Happy Day • Celebrate
