Sketch N Scrap Card Challenge #30

Here is a fun card sketch for you today. Post your take on the sketch to the SNS blog for a chance to win a prize.
I made a card for my nephews birthday using the sketch. I let the papers do all of the work for me on this card. Using a journaling spot for the title piece, I traced the edges of it with stickles for a little bit of glitter.

Sketch N Scrap Layout Challenge #61

Hello everyone! I have an awesome sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap for you all. So many fun ways to interpret this one, I can't wait to see what you upload to the SNS blog.
For my layout, I took a couple of photos from our recent trip to Lego Land in Kansas City. A totally impromptu trip, the kids (and adults) had a blast. For the background of my layout I took a large chipboard circle I had and a sharpe marker. I traced several circles in the background on the white card stock. Next I layered multiple pieces of "scrap" paper from My Minds Eye, Jillibean Soup, Bo Bunny and American Crafts. The title is cut out of black card stock with my circut and the journaling spot is a grouping of some of our Lego Land tickets.

Having fun with Card Sketches

Today I had a little spare time on my hands and I needed a couple of birthday cards. So I googled card sketch and came up with a couple of fun challenges.

First up was a sketch from Cas(e) this Sketch. I turned the sketch on its side to create my card.  I used a 6x6 paper pad from Bo Bunny for the papers.
The second card I created was based on the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches. I rummaged through my stash of scraps for the papers and used an EK Success punch to make the flower embellishment.
Thanks for checking in!

Out & About Junking

I've recently been able to get away a couple of weekends for some junking. I made it to Omaha to hit up Junk Stock with my bestie. We got there early so we didn't have too long of a wait to get inside.
I picked up a number of things, had to make a couple of trips to the car (good thing we had a decent parking spot!) I didn't get a shot of all of my purchases, most of what I buy is to repurpose and sell so you'll probably be seeing the afters as I finish them. I did pick up these amazing vintage picture frames. I have some projects in mind for them. I can't wait to see how they turn out!
Junk Stock is so much fun, I wish I lived closer, I would totally go all 3 days if I could.
What I wouldn't give for a "planter" like this in my garden...

Another weekend I snuck away to go to Gatherings on the Blue. I try to make it to the farm for every sale they have. Even if I don't purchase anything (Ha! Like that's ever happened) it's always a good time.

I tried to get a picture of my purchases, but when I set it all out, realized I left stuff in my mom's vehicle. That's when you know you've bought too much. You don't remember what you have... sigh. Now I can only hope to get it from her, if she hasn't found a use for my left behind treasures.
Most of these items are going to be turned into some wonderful things. The large wooden rake is staying in my collection for sure. I've always wanted one of those.
I've already turned the wooden box I bought into a primitive fall light. It's heading to The Country Nest soon.
Okay, how adorable are these little shovels!? I have plans to make a snowman for each one.
Last, this treasure will most likely be staying in my possession as well. I can't decide if I want to leave it, paint it or sand it down and restain it. It must have come out of an alteration shop as it was filled with old ric rac, thread, snap replacements and patches. It needs a good cleaning, so I'll start there and then decide what to do with it.
I'm back to work, turning my finds into wonderful things.

Sketch N Scrap Inspired By Sketch #7

I have a fun sketch for you today! Sketch-N-Scrap has their monthly "Inspired by" sketch today and what a beautiful one it is! Don't forget to enter your layout on the SNS blog for a chance to win a prize.
This layout was a lot of fun to put together. I dug through my stash of elements and embellishments and came up with a bunch of fun things to use on this layout. I pulled all of my banner dies and cut them out of a kraft card stock I keep on hand. Using my sewing machine I stitched the banners together then hand drew and paint splattered them for their final effect. The kraft tickets are from Maya Road and they are a lot of fun. They come stark and I stamped the #1 on them in the spirit of Thomas. The same MME stamp set had a wonderful train image so I used that on a heart I had cut out of vintage book paper. Other pieces out of my stash were the title circle which I bought on ebay some years ago and the grungy tag I made using one of Tim Holtz's techniques.
Items I used in this layout:
Card Stock • Cream
Card Stock • Kraft
Elle's Studio • Turquoise Pennants
Pink Paislee • Hometown Summer • Heat Wave
Maya Road • Kraft Tickets
My Stash • Acetate Title Piece
My Stash • Grungy Tag
My Minds Eye • Lost & Found • 2 Breeze Dream Stamps
Paper Trey Ink • Little Hot Rod • Stamps & Die Set
Ranger • Archival • Black Ink
Folk Art • Acrylic Paint • Sterling Blue
Folk Art • Acrylic Paint • Black
Brother • Sewing Machine

Garden Update

So I spent some time in the garden today, pulling a few (cough cough, few million) weeds. There is only ohhhh billion to go.... But hey, as long as I'm progressing, I'm making progress, right? I took a time out to snap a couple pictures of what's been coming up. My potatoes and onions are looking awesome. The rain we get almost nightly has helped greatly in my watering duties.
Although my pepper plants still look kinda shrimpy, they have some wonderful peppers started on them. My habanero plants look absolutely dreadful but they are hanging in there. If I manage to get one or two peppers out of them that should be plenty to warm up some salsa!
My green pepper plant has some started and I'm looking forward to some stuffed peppers in the future!
On to my tomato plants, there are some wonderful green orbs staring on this plant!
And look at this cluster of Roma's. These pretty babies will be canned before to long!
Even my cherry tomato plants have some great things started. I've pulled my dehydrator out and it's ready to go to work!
Lastly here is some of my radish harvest. Radishes grow so fast, you can get at least three harvests a summer if you want. BUT.... What do you do with them? Yes they are great in salads, certain recipes, but really radishes have a short shelf life. A couple of years ago I tried pickling them. They were absolutely horrid, and they only last a couple of months anyway. What do you do with your radishes? I'm searching the web for some ideas that I may try, but any ideas would be welcome. I hate throwing out what I worked hard to produce!
Throw your ideas/recipes at me and I'll give them a whirl!

Sketch N Scrap Card Challenge #29

How was everyone's 4th of July? We had an awesome time, the kids are certainly getting into the fireworks thing! I have a wonderful card sketch for you today, so many ways to interpret. I can't wait to see what you all come up with when you load your take to the Sketch-N-Scrap blog.
For my card, I layered some fun papers from Fancy Pants. I stamped the Happy Birthday out on white card stock and hand colored it with my Faber Castell markers. I then covered it with glossy accents to give it a nice shine. Last I glued on a bunch of star sequins to add even more sparkle to the card.
I had fun with this sketch and will be keeping it in my go to pile for future cards.

Sketch N Scrap Layout Challenge #60

Happy July! Hard to believe this year is almost half over, schools will be starting soon! I've got a wonderful sketch for you all today, get those summer photos scrapbooked before you're busy with fall events. Don't forget to upload your take on the sketch to Sketch-N-Scrap for a chance to win a wonderful prize!
For my layout I chose three photos from our recent family vacation. I took the kids to see Thomas the Train and while we were there, there were tons of activities for the kids. Each took their turn in the conductors photo booth.
Because I used a "busy" background paper, I stuck to solids for the foreground papers. Keeping it all pretty simple so the similar photos could have their display.
Items I used in this layout:
Echo Park • Little Boy • Vroom
Echo Park • Little Boy • Element Stickers
Echo Park • Little Boy • Journaling Cards
Core'dinations • Core Couture • Green
Card Stock • Red
Card Stock • Navy
Creative Imaginations • Epoxy Stickers
