Sketch N Scrap Card Challenge #52

Here is our last sketch for you this June, a wonderful card. Share your take on this sketch on the SNS blog and you could win a prize.
I started my card by giving the background a watercolor effect. Then after digging through my scrap stash I came up with a selection of perfectly pink papers to match the background. There is just a touch of green in the floral patterned paper and I played that up by stamping the sentiment piece in green and using a matching green brad in the hand dyed flowers. A perfect card for a new baby girl.

Sketch N Scrap Layout Challenge #83

Today's sketch sure is a fun one over at Sketch-N-Scrap. Make sure you head over to the site to check out what the design team came up with!
The sun burst was a bit of a challenge for me. You don't have to use it in your layout, but I wanted to. I started by making the template in Illustrator for my circut to cut out. The yellow honeycomb is not a heavy card stock, gluing the somewhat delicately cut paper to the brown card stock was NO fun. I ended up with some mess ups on the bottom, but luckily they were covered by the other layers of paper.
Item I used in this layout:

Sketch N Scrap June Twist Back Challenge

I have our twist back sketch for you from Sketch-N-Scrap. Haven't played along with one of our twist backs yet? Well the back is that we are using a sketch from the past, and the twist for this challenge is to use WASHI TAPE in your layout. Take a look at what the design team came up with over on the SNS blog.
I ended up using quite a bit of washi tape on my layout. Other than the main piece of paper, I only used one other piece of scrapbook paper on this layout, the elements are mostly tape.
The other day in Hobby Lobby I was looking in their paper pad isle as it was all 40% off. And there it was! 12x12 sheets of watercolor paper. I was so excited to grab a pad to use for mixed media layouts! The thicker paper works great for painting or spraying as it doesn't bubble all up like card stock. There is a little movement to the paper, but it is easier to smooth out once dry.
Another quick technique I want to share is how I laid out my title. I used a piece of clear acetate to help with the layout. By gently sticking the letters on the acetate, I could maneuver them how I wanted and lay it on the layout to see how it looked before sticking them to the paper. Pretty slick!
Items I used in this layout:
Watercolor Paper
Fancy Pants • As You Wish • World Travels
My Stash • Colored Tag
My Stash • Various Washi Tape
Gelatos
Watercolor

Sketch N Scrap Card Challenge #51

I'm back today with another fun sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap. This fun card can be interpreted so many ways for any type of occasion. I can't wait to see what you all come up with. Upload your take to the SNS Blog and you might win a prize!
For my card, I used a watercolor effect on the main background. Then staying pretty true to the sketch, I layered a doily and some patterned papers. The sentiment is a wood stamp that I've had for ages. There were hearts on the sides that I didn't care for so I covered them in washi tape before I applied the ink then took the tape off before stamping. The word LORD is colored in with a Faber Castell marker.

Sketch N Scrap Layout Challenge #82

Things are back to normal over at Sketch-N-Scrap. I hope you all enjoyed our month long celebration at SNS for our 3rd birthday! There were a ton of challenges and prizes. My 3 challenges I sponsored on my site are still open. Take a look at my past posts and play along for a chance to win!

Today I have a sketch for you. Play along with this one and upload your take to the SNS blog for a chance to win!
Last fall I took the kids out to the pasture for an impromptu photo shoot. We had a lot of fun taking photos together and separate. They are typical siblings. They fight, they ignore each other, they push, shove... But for the most part, they are truly great friends.

I used a mix of brands to put this layout together. It was a fun one and I hope you all play along!
