Sketch-N-Scrap Card Sketch Challenges

I hope you all have been having fun with Sketch-N-Scraps new card sketches! I know I have! I've always wanted to make all of my cards, and these sketches have really helped me get it in gear.

Here is the sketch for the June 5th challenge:
And here is the card I did for the challenge. I played around with some fun elements and stamped out the title piece. The butterfly on the top was covered in crackle accents to give it fun effect.
And here is the June 20th challenge sketch:
You'll noticed I used the same stamp for the title piece as the other card. Cards can have the same sentiment but be so different. This card features a large dimensional flower on the front, and was fun to put together.
I hope you are all having fun with the different sketches! Make sure you post your finished cards to the Sketch-N-Scrap site for a chance to win some great prizes!

Sketch N Scrap Challenge #35

Welcome to another challenge by Sketch N Scrap! We have a wonderful sketch for you today. I had fun with this one! Don't forget to head over to the SNS site and show us what you did with the sketch!
My daughter... She has taken after her mama in the crafty department. She is always begging to "help". She loves to color, and she recently found my stash of stickles! These photos are from Valentines Day when she decorated some hearts for her friends.
I didn't plan it, but the overall look on my layout has a "Made in the USA" feel to it, doesn't it? When pulling the paper I was going to use I was going predominately red and decided to throw the blue stars in to give a little more color.

I layered some elements from Elles Studio that work as embellishments and a way to date the photos.
My title piece was cut out using my cricut as per my typical M.O. I use Adobe Illustrator to draw it up, that way I can make it to any size using tons of different fonts and styles.
Products I used in this layout:
October Afternoon • Sidewalks • Red Rover
October Afternoon • Schoolhouse • Shape Stickers
Elles Studio • Handmade Layer Circles
Elles Studio • Leger Calendar Tags

Sketch N Scrap Challenge #34

I'm back today with another challenge from Sketch-N-Scrap! This fun sketch is full of possibilities. Don't forget to upload your take on this sketch to the website for a chance to win some awesome prizes!
For my layout, I used a collection from Simple Stories. The bright colors worked with the fun summer theme. It's so much fun to watch the kids interact with each other as they get older. They are starting to figure out it can be fun playing together!
For my title piece I cut out the words with my cricut. I also covered them in Glossy Accents to give them a shiny, epoxy look. Underneath the title at the top of the picture I used my craft knife to cut out the swirl on the photo mat card. I wanted it to lay on top of the photo rather than be covered by it.
Simple stories has so many neat elements that go along with each line. For the journaling spot I used some of their Expression Stickers. I used my Ranger blending tool to ink the edges of all of the papers as well to get rid of the white cut lines.
Products I used in this layout:
Simple Stories • 100 Days of Summer • 6x12 Page Elements
Simple Stories • 100 Days of Summer • Hello Sunshine
Simple Stories • 100 Days of Summer • 4x4 Quote & 6x8 Photo Mat Elements
Simple Stories • 100 Days of Summer • Expressions Cardstock Stickers
Cardstock • Bright Red

Quick Tag Tutorial

Here is how I made the tag for the layout I showed you yesterday.
I used these great products to make the tag:
Ranger • Emboss It • Tinted Embossing Pad

I took my blank tag and added color to it. First I stamped the yellow & red ink pads on my craft mat.  I then activated the ink with a little water and dragged my tag through the mixture. I used my heat gun to dry the tag.
Once the tag is dry I laid the mask over the tag and stamped the embossing ink pad over it. Careful to hold the mask in place to ensure a good ink transfer. Then I coated the tag with white embossing powder, shook of the excess and set it in with the heat tool.
And here you have the finished tag!
I did another tag using the Hexigons Mask, Zing Clear Embossing Powder, Distress Embossing Ink & Picket Fence Stain. I followed the same technique as before using the distress embossing pad and clear powder.
Once I set the embossing powder in with my heat tool, I took the Picket Fence stain and rubbed it over the tag. I used a baby wipe to lightly take the paint off of the embossed areas showing the true colors underneath.
I hope this inspires you to make some fun new tags!

Sketch N Scraps Birthday Bash Challenge

So, how many of you have been having fun with Sketch-N-Scraps month long Birthday Bash?
For my challenge I invite you to play with inks, stains, & sprays! Take a blank sheet and customize it to work with your layout. Or match some embellishments to your paper. There are so many products out there to play with you can make anything!

For my layout I used a stencil from Studio Calico & inks from Ranger to make the starburst pattern on plain white card stock.
For my title piece, I created a custom tag using Ranger Inks, another Studio Calico Stencil & American Crafts Embossing Powder. I will have another post tomorrow showing you how I did the tag in more detail. The lettering is cut out with my cricut and I covered it in glossy accents to give it a shine.
When it comes to using inks, most people think of stamping right away. I did stamp a little on this layout, making a small spot in the corner for the date.
This photo show a little more detail on the star burst. Because I used Distress Ink from Ranger, I could manipulate it with water. I sprayed the paper lightly to break the ink up a bit and give it an interesting look.
Now it's your turn! Make a layout using inks, stains, &/or sprays. Go out of your comfort zone and make a mess! Upload your layout below for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to my store!

Sketch N Scrap Challenge #33

Here we go again with another wonderful sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap. Now, I am usually a multi photo kinda gal, but every once in a while I get a photo that I believe needs it's own page. Case in point with the photo I used in this sketch:
The Easter bunny made an appearance at our local mall so of course we had to stop and say hello!  It's hard to get 3 3 year olds to look at the camera at the same time and also smile. We didn't do too bad...
For my title piece I used my CriCut to cut the letters and numbers out. The 2013 was cut out of white paper as I didn't have the correct color. I then inked the paper to the desired color. I also added some glossy accents to the text to make it seem like an epoxy sticker.
For the banner I cut out triangles in coordinating papers and used alphas from the matching sticker sheet to spell out spring.

Make sure you upload your take on this sketch to the Sketch-N-Scrap blog for a chance to win!
For this sketch I turned it on it side to work better with my photos. I had just taken some pictures of the kids at the Easter egg hunt. I apologize for the picture of the layout. We have had a lot of bad weather, if the sun does shine, the wind is terrible so getting a good photo has been a challenge.
