Sketch-N-Scrap Card Challenge #40

If you need any last minute card design inspirations for the year look no further than this sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap.
My interpretation for this card, I guess I'm still wishing it was fall? I had these beautiful papers out from We R Memory Keepers and wanted to play with them more. They worked beautifully for this card.

Sketch-N-Scrap Card Challenge #39

Today I have a card sketch for you from Sketch-N-Scrap.
I used this sketch to design thank you cards for the triplets recent birthday party. Using paper from Imaginise's B-day Bash paper line I created the background of the card. I cut the large tag form out with my big shot and the strip of paper mounted on the tag. The cupcake is stamped onto a circle and is painted and glittered. The sentiment is embossed on the top and bottom of the tag.
Don't forget to show us your take on the sketch on the SNS blog.

New Art Pieces

Lately I've been having some fun working on some mixed media pieces. I have a few works for sale at The Country Nest, but I also wanted to get some done to list online. I scavenged the garage looking for left over piece of wood to paint on. I have quite a stack now awaiting me. I took pictures of my latest piece as I worked on it. I probably should've had my video camera on but oh well. Next time.

I started out by preparing my piece covering the whole front with vintage book paper. After a layer of Mod Podge, I added 3 different paint colors lightly so as not to cover the book paper entirely.
Next I did a wash of white paint to mute the color down, keeping it heavier on the outsides of the piece.
A little bit of stamping to create a little texture...
Next I cut out my tree from various pieces of scrap paper. The papers do not work well together, but that is about to be fixed.
I paint over the tree with green paint, covering up the colors in the paper but still showing the various patterns on each piece.
Next comes shading. I still find it amazing how much this step can change a piece. The swipe of a marker and smudge of a finger. The base of the piece is done. Ready for final embellishing.
Using modeling paste and a stencil I apply several different snowflakes. Last I pick the perfect quote and glue it down with a final coating of Mod Podge to seal the entire piece.
This one-of-a-kind piece is available in my etsy store.
While I had my supplies out, I put together this piece on a canvas.
This one is for sale on my ebay page.

Sketch N Scrap Layout Challenge #70

Happy December everyone! I have a sketch for you all from Sketch-N-Scrap. This one gives you plenty of options to layer some paper for a truly unique look.
In this layout, I pulled out some paper from Imaginisce that I had been hoarding for quite some time. The pretty pastels worked wonderfully with my photos. I mixed my paper lines when I dug through my stash for embellishments, finding some from My Minds Eye and Jillibean Soup. The photos show my daughter this summer. She had gotten a scrapbook kit and she put together an entire scrapbook album by herself. All I did was hand her some photos. She watches me like a hawk so she knew exactly what she was doing. I better keep an eye on my supplies now!

Items I used in this layout:
Imaginisce • Baby Powder • Oopsie Daisy
Imaginisce • Fairest of them All • Royal Procession
Imaginisce • Fairest of them All • Magic Meadow

MME • Mary Mary Best of Friends • Accessory Sheet
Jillibean Soup • Soup Labels • Bean Soup

Sketch N Scrap Card Challenge #38

So I'm not even going to mention how many days it is until Christmas today. (Mostly because I really don't want to know!) But incase any of you are counting down the days, you know it is getting close to the time to send out your Holiday cards. Well I have a wonderful sketch for you today to get you on your way if you need any extra nudging. (Like me) Add your take on this sketch to the Sketch-N-Scrap blog for a chance to win prizes!
I pulled out my drawer of scrap paper and these pieces caught my eye. Red is a traditional Christmas color, but yellow not so much. However I thought a little punch of yellow was just what this piece needed.

Sketch N Scrap Layout Challenge #69

I have a beautiful sketch for you all today from Sketch-N-Scrap
I started with the photos of Brileigh and Rylan climbing a tree from this summer. The papers I had had for some time and I pulled them out knowing they would be perfect for this layout. The strip of green paper is the back of the lighter tan paper, so I only used the two pieces of cardstock for this layout. And of course the cream that frames the photos and makes for the title piece.
The leaf banner was very easy to put together, I simply glued Amy Tangerines paper leaves onto a piece of jute with my hot glue gun. I attached it to the layout using glue dots. For the photo frames I lightly stamped the cream card stock with a script stamp. I was watching a Tim Holtz video the other day and he showed the swiping technique. Before when I wanted a light stamped effect I would first stamp the image on a scrap piece of paper then on the actual piece. He showed in the video instead of pushing your stamp into the ink pad, simply swipe the stamp over the ink pad to achieve a lighter look. Amazing! Glad I know that tip now, and I hope I was able to pass that knowledge on!
Items I used in this layout:
American Crafts • Bookshelf • L'Amour
American Crafts • Bookshelf • Faulkner
Card Stock • Cream
My Stash • Script Font Stamp
Ranger • Archival Ink Pad • Black
Ranger • Distress Ink • Walnut Stain
Amy Tangerine • Field House • Paper Leaves Shapes
Thermogrip Glue Gun
Adobe Illustrator
Cricut Expression

Sketch N Scrap Card Challenge #37

Check out this wonderful sketch from Sketch-N-Scrap! So many sentiments you can use with this sketch.
For my card, I was asked to design some anniversary party invites and I thought this sketch was a wonderful design for them. I used a beautiful paper line from Authentique called Loyal to make the cards. The circle "Our 60th" was designed using InDesign and printed out with my color printer.
Thanks for checking in and don't forget to upload your take on the sketch to the Sketch-N-Scrap blog for a chance to win!
